Elliott is *finally* getting gtswimclub.com and mySwimClub (an internal site for members) up and running this semester... hooray!
With that said, we will no longer be using this site. Hopefully it has been helpful to ya'll; it has certainly been useful for the officer core while we awaited the AWESOME new site. Remember: Don't hate, Secretate.

Practices are from 8:30-10pm both during dead week and finals week (Tuesday and Thursday nights only). If you want to go in and swim at a different time, I would recommend between 8-10 am, since there's never anyone there. Construction on the competition pool will not be finished until after the semester is over. And yes, elections will in fact be taking place sometime during the next month. Questions/ concerns/ announcements, as always, can be addressed to Melissa at gtg905g.

Mannfred's 21st birthday, tonight, 12:00 midnight. See e-mail from Mannfred and contact him if you'd like a great excuse to party.
Also, happy 21st to Katie Fluke (Jan 10).
Lastly, the (in)famous Yojimbo Montanaki -- aka James Montante, Patron Saint of Swim Club, and fall semester keg provider -- is back in town. If you missed him at practice, make sure to catch him at one of the swim club events before he leaves town on Sunday.

1. Don't forget Wednesday practices are at 8:15 2. Introduce yourself to people you don't know at practice. We have some new swimmers this semester, as well as some returning ones (like Megan, Patty, Jackie, Sam, Denise, and John). 3. March 31-April 2 is ECCs here at Tech (your millionth reminder) 4. April 22-April 23 is Nationals at Ohio State (mark it down! we want to win!)

Hope everyone has had a safe break! Has anyone been joining Mannfred for those 6:30 AM swims? Just a few announcements:
1. A new year, a new start. Encourage your friends to join! 2. Elliott will soon be sending out an e-mail about team t-shirts. Make sure you order one! I know there's been a lot of t-shirt offers over the past semester, but these will be our official team shirts. 3. Unfortunately, we only had 9 people sign up for the Miami of Ohio meet January 20-22. It's not enough for us to be able to afford to go up there, so we won't be able to attend that meet. They are hosting a number of other meets later in the season, so we'll see if we can get enough team interest that we can get up there at least once this semester. 4. As we start a new semester, let's have some team resolutions. I suggest the first be to get in the water on time at practice! Also, let's make sure we're holding to practice set-up: Left side of the pool is the least serious and right side of the pool is the most serious swimmers. Please hold to this, especially as new swimmers come in who have not yet found their comfort zone or a good training partner. Encourage your lane to swim sets with you!

If you are interested in attending the January 21 meet at Miami of Ohio, please sign up in the comments section of this post or e-mail your entries to Melissa (gtg905g). Though entries are not due until January, we would like a head count as soon as possible. Please respond by December 21 if you plan to attend. That should give you plenty of time. Cost is $40. Event order is in the comments.

We have been officially invited to Oxford, Ohio for a spring meet January 21st. Miami of Ohio has a fabulous pool (they'll be hosting swim club nationals later in the year), yes they'll have touchpads, and GCSU and UF have already committed. On the other hand, it is a 10+ hour drive and would likely cost each person a bit more. We would leave Friday, sleep in a hotel on the way up that night, arrive in Oxford on Saturday, swim the meet, hang out there Saturday night, and then drive back on Sunday. Events and all meet info is attached.
The questions is... would you be interested in going to this meet?!? It would be a ton of fun, but if we're driving all that way, we'd like to be able to take a big team! Post in the comments and let us know what you think!

The last official practice of the fall semester is this Thursday, Dec 8. We still have the pool reserved during normal swim club hours during finals week, so feel free to swim and relieve some stress; there just won't be a written practice for those days.
Next semester, we are planning on a meet at Miami of Ohio in January, the Mardi Gras Invite on March 11, the East Coast Championships here in ATL March 31-April 2, and a meet at UWF (Pensacola) in late March/early April. Possible other meets include UGA and UNC-Charlotte. The only finalized date is that of ECCs, so go ahead and mark it on your calendars! Tulane's pool did sustain some damage, but they hope to be done with all repairs by March 11th.

CONGRATS to all of you who competed at this weekend's big GT-UT meet. There were 44 new top times, wow! We also had two new records by our amazing Secretary, Alex Kennedy, in the 400 IM and 1650 free. The relay team of Stephen Clawson, Brett Ryan, Cameron Lippert, and Mannfred Slotnick handed UT a rare loss in the 200 FR. The medley relay team of Zack Schreer, Brent Rivard, Cameron Lippert, and Mannfred Slotnick finished just .07 off the Swim Club record. Individual event winners were David Paul Millard, Brent Rivard, Zack Schreer, Mannfred Slotnick, Melissa Scholz, Alison Skala, Taylor Kopacka, Halley Espy, and Alex Kennedy. Team scores and individual scorers are attached in the comments.
